When models ruled the world and were actually beautiful. And what’s beautiful is this piano notes. Equally beautiful is Christy Turlington’s face.
Why does everyone think the lyrics of this song announce George’s “coming out”? This song is about his rejection of music industry standards and being marketed as a pop pin-up industry toy instead of a serious artist – which is what he was aiming to be, and how he was aiming to be appreciated. And this song is his form of protest about that. The symbolism in the clip of the leather jacket, the jukebox and the guitar all featured initially the “Faith” video being destroyed: the jacket being burned; jukebox and guitar exploding, are all visual metaphors for his need to break free from the constraints of his career up until that point.
George’s absence from the video was also a deliberate manoeuvre: he took his then label Sony to court for under-promoting this single’s album “Listen…Without Prejudice Vol 1” – a move he claimed was calculated by Sony as their form of vendetta against him for refusing to appear in his own videos. But GM, being the genius he was, pulled together the cream of the modelling world to appear in his place and still scored himself a hit anyway! The result being one of the best music videos of all time – one of the most innovative, legendary and memorable. Well, speaking about the piano notes – just awesome. Keep up great work up.
