khwaja mere khwaja
tere darbar mein kwaja
dor to hai deka
sar jhuka te hai auliya
tu hai unalwali kwaja
rutba hai pyara
chahne se tujhko khwaja ji mustafa ko paya
kwaja mere khwaja
dil mein sama je
saho ka shah tu
ali ka dulara
mere per ka sadka
hai mere peer ka sadka
tera daman hai thama
khawajaji
tali har bala humari
chaya hai khumar tera
jitna bhi rashk kare beshak
toh kam hai ae mere khwaja
tere kadmo ko mere rehnuma nahi chodna gawara
khwaja mere khwaja
dil mein sama ja
shaho ka shah tu
ali ka dulara
khwaja mere khwaja dil mein sama ja
beqaso ki taqder, tune hai sawari
The piano notes for Khwaja Mere Khwaja are here. The song is composed by A.R Rahman and he is a person who is considered a musical genius around the world. His most notable achievement is the Oscar award for best composer which he bagged for his song Jai Ho. A.R. Rahman is known for his musical experimentation and this song is one of his many ventures into the Sufi realm. The song belongs to the movie Jodhaa Akbar which was released in 2008. The movie was a retelling of the historical love story of Jodhaa Bai and the renowned Mughal Emperor Akbar. The song follows their story from their arranged marriage to their slowly and steadily blossoming relationship. However, the song has a bit of a history of its own behind its creation. It was simply meant to be a creative exploration by Rahaman after being inspired by the Sufi culture and the song was not meant to be a part of any film as such. The song was initially titled Kashif after the name of the person who wrote the words of the song. It was a devotional song and Rahman composed it for himself but when Ashutosh Gowariker listened to the song he wanted to use it in Jodhaa Akbar and Rahman agreed.Â
